Thank you!
It is with great pleasure to say that our Dialogue for life 2011 Suicide Prevention Conference welcomed over 700 participants from Native and Inuit communities. Budget cuts kept many from joining us this year.
Suicide is never an easy topic to discuss, but with this conference we believe we have helped many to find strength to face suicides of the past in order to prevent them in the future. We hope that the knowledge you have gathered you will bring home and use to the best of your abilities, for yourself, your family, your community and your Nation. Thank you for your willingness to learn because without this, we would not succeed.
We all came to this conference for different reasons. Some of us came to share our teachings and stories, some to get tools to bring home to our communities and some came to heal from losses. It is time to honor and thank our ancestors for what they have passed to us and the ways in which they have given us strength to move through our lives.
It is time to honour and thank our Elders in our families and communities for the years of wisdom and for the stories they have shared. Thank them, as well, for all the sacrifices their generations have made to allow our generation the possibilities we now have.
To all our presenters, both pre-conference & conference, thank you for sharing your knowledge and skills to help make our people stronger.
Thank you to all our dedicated volunteers who spent their time helping the presenters, participants and staff.
Thank you to our Board Members who spend countless hours assisting and supporting the Association.
Thank you to the staff that pulled it all together in a very friendly team effort and made the conference run so smoothly.
